Respect and Patriot, two words given new definitions.

These two words are given underrated attention or are used very loosely by most Americans today. I think I have found one of the most amazing acts of one person that just shouts out both respect and patriotism. This fine Marine gentleman both shows respect and earns it from me and lots of other people. I don’t know how many of us could do what this Marine did, but I know I just wish I could. I think the actions of SSgt. Tim Chambers is a great testament to the men and women, both current and former, members of the finest military ever on the face of this earth. This one Marine by his actions has done more to promote patriotism than all the politicians in that city where he stood his post. Please take the time to watch the short video of this Marine’s actions. This man stood his post and did not waver, and for that Sgt., I salute you.

A Plan to Get Our Government Back On Track With the Ideas of Average Americians

It seems that almost everyday I hear someone say, “If I were president for a month I would get this country back on the right track.” But, I rarely hear anything about their plan for doing so. I think most of us know that things in Washington are definitely on the wrong track and can not be sustained for much longer at it’s present rate. But, how many have taken the time to think about how or what they would change if given the opportunity? It is obivious, to me anyway, that the politicians in Washington can not or will not make the tough decisions necessary to get things moving again. And, I’m not to sure this new batch that we elected on Tuesday can or will do any better. As most of you I’m sure know, this is supposed to be a government “of, by and for The People” in this country. I submit to you that it is not now or has it been for some time. Maybe it’s time for that to change. I know that we do not have many avenues open to us to make change other than the ballot box, but in the rest of this post I’ll try to present to you a plan that I think would at the very least get the attention of the folks in Washington and also tell us which of the politicians do not care what we the people think.

As most of you I’m sure will agree there is two areas that need immediate attention to get us back on track and out of this recession/depression. They are spending and taxes as both are out of control. I think the problem in both areas can be laid at the feet of “career politicians” which by the way we should never have and were not intended to have.” Representation of the people” was intended to be a service to your country not a career. I have thoughts of a plan that if implemented would either start us on the path to making the necessary changes and failing that would tell us exactly which of these career politicians needs to find another job!

I think that if we were to form a citizen committee to recommend needed changes to several Representatives, I would suggest Michele Bachmann as one, and several Senators, I think Marco Rubio and Rand Paul would do well as they already have their attention. These politicians could then put the recommendations in the form of bills to be presented to both chambers of Congress. If they were to pass, the needed changes would take place, if they did not we would then know who the culprits are that are not holding true to their oath to “uphold the Constitution” and fairly represent the people.

The make-up of this citizen committee would be a cross section of the country as follows; three people supporting a family on $35,000 or less per year, three people supporting a family on $35-200,000 per year and three people supporting a family making more than $200,000 per year. To these I would add Mr. Neal Bortiz, who knows more about the fair tax than most. Then I would add Mr. Herman Cain, who talks to thousands of people on his talk show and has a good read on what the people are thinking, and there are others who would be just as good. And I would also add Mr. Mark Levin, who I think has a most excellent knowledge of our Constitution. Lastly I would add a respected “former” member of Congress to advise on how that august body functions, my pick would be the former senator from Pennsylvania, Mr. Rick Santorum. You may have other choices and if you do that means you are thinking. These are just mine.

Now, on to my suggestions for getting things back on track. The first thing would be to abolish the grossly “unfair” income tax and replace it with some form of “fair” tax. Possibly a national sales tax. Secondly, a twenty-five percent cut across the board in spending starting right at the top with the salaries of the career politicians. I do not think they need to get so handsomely compensated for the very poor service they have been rendering to “we the people”, their employers. This cut would not be nearly as hard to do as some of you might think. Two areas would go a long way toward cutting spending. They would be “pork-barrel spending” and “entitlements”. Take entitlements for example, nowhere in our Constitution does it say anyone of us is entitled to anything other than the freedoms contained in the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the other amendments to that precious document. Spending can happen if we can just find some people with the guts to stand up and do it.
Now I’m not naive enough to think any of this will really happen, but I am trying to get more people thinking about these things. After this past Tuesday I think we have their attention and we should take every advantage. Contact every one of you members of Congress on a regular basis. And try to do it by mail if possible because every piece of mail has to be logged in and it’s to easy to delete e-mails without them having ever been read. Hold their feet to the fire and remember Representative has to stand for re-election every two years and senators every six. They know that and now you do too.
Thanks for reading and please leave a comment, and have a great day, Gary.

A New Directions is NEEDED in Our Country

First of all in observance of Constitution Day I urge all to get a copy of our Constitution and read it, better yet study it very carefully. Also, the people we elect should do so twice as much so they will know what they are taking an oath to uphold.
Since I think as a whole most preppers are conservative in their political outlook I am going to start bringing to light what I consider to be some good conservative candidates for either state or federal office. Over the next few weeks until election day I will try to do at least one per day. Any candidate endorsed by the Patriotic Prepper will also be offered the opportunity to present their views on current problems with our government and/or their political views about how they will address our conservative values.
Today I bring to your attention from my state of West Virginia the candidate for the Senate, Mr. John Raese. Mr Raese is running for the seat long held by Robert Byrd(D) in a special election to fill the seat left vacant with the passing of Mr. Byrd. I think Mr. Raese is the best man for West Virginia at this time as he is a native West Virginian who holds what I think are very good views and values and much needed in Washington, DC at this time. In these post I will not talk bad about opponents of these candidates so I will not say anything about Mr. Raese’s opponent, but I do think it is time for West Virginia to have a strong conservative voice in Washington. And I think John Raese is the man to give us that voice. You can find more info about this fine man here. I ask you to please give him your consideration and vote in November. Have a nice day, Gary

Is it time to dust-off the empeachment clause?

I will assume that anyone reading this blog also follows the news closely and would know that there are several things that have happened or are happening now that are just flat out WRONG. The two I will mention today are the “border enforcement in Arizona” and the events surrounding the “New Black Panther Party”. It would seem that our current Attorney General needs to take time out from his busy schedule and read the Constitution which he took an oath to up-hold, because he obviously missed a few parts with his first reading. A couple of the parts he should pay especially close attention to would be as follows, Article 4 Section 4 which reads “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence”. Article 4 Section 2 which reads “The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States”. In the case of the second all privileges include the right to vote un-impeded which was not the case in some places where the “New Black Panther Party” chose to station themselves, and for which criminal acts AG Eric Holder refuses to prosecute. But at the same time he has no problem going to court to bring action against the Sovereign State of Arizona because they have chosen to pass a law that in essence does the job the Federal government is tasked with under Article 4 Section 4. For these and other reasons I truly believe Mr. Holder should re-read the Constitution, and that the Congress needs to proceed with “Articles of Impeachment” against Mr. Holder because obviously he is not fit or qualified to hold the office of Attorney General. Have a nice day.

Another reason we need to be always vigilant!!

A friend sent me the article from the “Family Research Council” found at the end of this post. Once again we find that when our government can’t get one of their pet projects past Congress they find a back-door way to accomplish their goal. We need to stay on top of this with our senators and congressman with this matter. And as a point of reference letters to your senator or congressman get logged-in to the record but e-mails and faxes do not. So please write letters to let these people know this has to be stopped. Have a nice day, Gary

In the Red, but Going Green

When it was obvious that Congress didn’t have the votes to move the cap-and-trade bill, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) moved on to Plan B: bypassing the House and Senate altogether. Instead of waiting on Congress, agency officials decided on the next best thing–imposing the emission rules without any input from Capitol Hill. As we speak, the EPA is putting the final touches on a set of regulations that would kick thousands of businesses off U.S. soil and close the doors on countless others. Those of us lucky enough to survive the corporate crunch will be staring down huge jumps in food, housing, and transportation costs.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) points out that giving bureaucrats this type of unilateral authority is a recipe for disaster. She and 41 of her colleagues are trying to put the brakes on the agency’s power grab with a special resolution of disapproval. If S.J. Res. 26 squeaks through the House and Senate, it would go a long way to rolling back the global warming agenda. In fact, experts say it would probably gut some of the ridiculous environmental push–a push that would affect everything from big business and manufacturing plants to small farms, nursing homes, country schools, and hospitals.

As Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wy.) points out, every industry that uses “fossil fuels to heat, cool, light, or run… its operation” would be affected. More than a million of them would need EPA permits just to function. And according to Tom Borelli’s great op-ed in Townhall, this whole process “could cost [taxpayers] over $15 billion to process just one type of permit nationwide.” For most Americans, it’s a double whammy. Business owners would be hit on the front end, and taxpayers will be hurt on the back. Sen. Murkowski’s resolution lands on the Senate floor in two days. On June 10, Congress will decide who’s in charge of setting American policy: elected officials or unelected bureaucrats. Let your elected representatives know where you stand. Contact your senators and tell them to support S.J. Res. 26.

It can be done.

Incumbents can be tossed out of office when enough people get fed-up with their crappy attitudes. More and more are getting kicked to the curb this election cycle than has happened in a long time. Here in my home state of West Virginia we got rid of one on Tuesday that needed to go. Rep. Alan Mollahan is now among the ranks of the defeated. People from all over the state were working phones among other things to make it happen. I was hoping we could weaken him for Nov. but he couldn’t even win his party’s primary, so it can be done folks. If everyone helps we “CAN” begin to take our country back from the politicians. Remember, it is “we the people” who have our say on election day. Have a nice day, Gary

Please help me welcome our newest writer.

It is my privilege to to introduce the newest writer here at Patriotic Prepper, Mr Michael Short. This gentleman, whom I’m proud to call friend, is I think imminently qualified to write for this blog. He is a retired Marine with 22years active service to our country, was a POW in Vietnam and I think that qualifies him as a “Patriot”. He just had a book published that was on the bookstore shelves on Saturday and has already sold 6000 copies and that definitely qualifies him to write for this blog. By the way, if you would like to check-out his new book you can find it here . Also, if you like his book and would like an autographed copy they will be available exclusively at the United States Prepper Networks “Prepper Products” store by the first of next week. Welcome Mike, happy to have you on board, now give them he!! my friend, Gary

Is the state of Arizona “WRONG”.

Recently the governor of Arizona signed in to law a bill passed by the legislature giving law enforcement the duty and right to ask anyone to prove they are in this country legally. The fire-storm of criticism heaped on her for this action has been beyond the realm of reality. When did it become wrong to detain criminals? The Constitution says in Article 1  Section 8, one of the duties of Congress is to establish an uniform “Rule of Naturalization”. In Article 4 Section 4 it says “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence”. Illegals are coming across the border into Az. at a rate of 1000 per day, and I’m sure if that was Mexican troops it would be considered an invasion. So, I ask what is the difference? And since there is a way available to come into this country legally and these people choose not to use it they are criminals plain and simple and they come under the law by these actions. And I believe criminals  should expect to be detained for their actions. It seems to me that the state of Az. is only cleaning up the mess left after the federal government hasn’t done their job of securing the border. The term “illegal alien” itself denotes that a law has been broken, so I ask, what makes these people think they are entitled to break our law and there be no consequences? All of us should applaud the Governor and Legislature of Az. for these actions. As always, have a nice day, Gary.

We need strong citizen legislators.

I think we all know that we need to change things in Washington because this last bit of change hasn’t worked out to well us common people. As the title suggest, we need to get back to citizen legislators as stated in the Constitution and away from career politicians. In the months from now to the fall elections I’ve decided to mention some candidates here that my research shows have strong conservatives values and ideas that are much needed in Washington and some state capitols at this time. Some you may have heard of and others I’m sure will be little know outside of their states. Also if a reader thinks they have a good candidate in their area, send me some info and if the research proves out I’ll be happy to give them a mention here.

This morning I’m going to mention two candidates, one you have probably heard of and the other not likely. The first is from the 4th Congressional District of Mass. For those of you who may not know that district is now represented by Barney Franks, who gives “pompous wind-bag” a whole new meaning. The man who my research shows would be a very good person to fill that seat is Sean Bielat, a former Marine and strong fiscal conservative. Find out more about the man here, http://seanbielat.org/, and if you live in Mass. and like what you see give him your support.

The second candidate is for the senate in Fla. I think Marco Rubio would be a voice for the conservative task of taking back our government in Washington. You can find more information about him here,  http://marcorubio.com/. If you live in Fla. I think he would make you a very good senator.

In closing a reminder. If you have read my previous post you already know I do not think we should ever have a two-term senator or a three-term representative so these people need to know “we the people” will not put up with anymore “politics as usual” in our representatives to Washington. As always, have a great day, Gary.
